The Kellogg-Schulich Executive MBA program is 18 months in duration. The program consists of 2 residential periods (one at the Schulich School and one at the Kellogg School of Management both in the first year of the program. 5 modules of classes (which includes a choice of electives at the Kellogg School) and a choice of electives at a partner school (Global Electives). Classes during the modules are delivered on alternating weekends. Classes are held on Friday afternoons, Saturday mornings and afternoons and on Sunday mornings. The class weekends in Toronto are not residential. In addition to classes, the weekends include time for team meetings. This can reduce the need to meet as often outside of the weekends.

In year 1 of the program, the residential period at the Schulich School (Schulich Live-in Week) as well as the classes for Modules 1 to 3 will take place in Toronto at the new, state-of the-art Schulich School of Business building on the York University campus. The residential period at the Kellogg School (Kellogg Live-in Weeks) will also take place in year 1 of the program and will be held at the Kellogg School of Management in Chicago. In year 2, elective courses at the Kellogg School of Management will take place at the James L. Allen Center, the Kellogg School of Management's renowned executive training facility located on Northwestern University's Evanston Campus, just north of Chicago, Illinois. The Global Elective courses will be held at one of our international partner schools.

Upon successful completion of the program, you will be awarded a joint MBA degree from Northwestern and York Universities. The seals of both institutions on your degree reflect their commitment to delivering an integrated EMBA experience.

The program is delivered by senior faculty from Kellogg, Schulich and our international partner schools. These are the same faculty who teach in our full-time and executive education programs. They are scholars of distinction who also bring first-hand experience in working with business and government.

No, the program does not use videoconferencing or Internet-based approaches. All class sessions are delivered in person in a classroom setting, including the residence sessions at Schulich and Kellogg, the alternating weekend classes, and the Global Elective courses. The live delivery permits you to develop a personal relationship with the faculty and with your classmates. The classroom setting enables you to network with EMBA students outside your own study team, both in class and in informal setting over lunch and study breaks.

Although both lead to the MBA degree, the EMBA program is aimed at experienced managers and professionals. The schedule with classes on alternating weekends allows you to continue to work while you study. Because the class is composed of seasoned participants, there is greater opportunity for you to learn from your peers and the teaching methods will involve more class participation as a result.

No, there are no pre-EMBA classes. The program does provide several specially designed Online Tutorials to help "dust off" your math, accounting and economics skills before the program begins. You are also encouraged to ensure that your computer skills, particularly those relating to spreadsheets, are up to date.

The curriculum includes coverage of all key management functions and integrates these into a focus on leadership and strategic management. The result is the development of a general management perspective appropriate to the mid-career executive. The class goes through most of the program as a cohort, with the exception of your choice of Global Elective courses and Kellogg elective courses. These elective courses give you the flexibility to personalize the curriculum to your area of interest. The curriculum also changes from year to year to integrate new developments in the field of management and to keep your learning on the cutting-edge.

Doing a quality EMBA program requires a significant commitment from you, your employer and your family. This will include attending classes and team meetings, and personal study time. The Kellogg-Schulich EMBA schedule has been designed with you in mind. By using intensive Live-in Weeks (residential periods) and classes on alternating weekends, the program minimizes time off the job and maximizes in-class learning. There is time allocated during the class weekends for team meetings. While the time required would vary on an individual basis, you can expect to spend approximately 15-20 hours a week outside of class on the program.

Program delivery in the Kellogg-Schulich EMBA program follows the premise that no single method of teaching is ideal under all circumstances. Like all business schools, we make extensive use of the case study method to develop analysis and decision-making skills. But, we want to ensure that you also learn the latest management theory and research to apply to your work. The key is relevance and rigor. Therefore, professors share their research and the experience of company best practices during lecture periods. During the Live-in Weeks, you will also have the opportunity to participate in extended management simulations.

No. The approach in the Kellogg-Schulich Executive MBA is that every participant brings value to the learning environment. This may be due to prior academic preparation, work experience, international exposure or community involvement. Every participant contributes as well as learns.

To be considered for admission, you should have at least eight years work experience with substantive management experience and possess the Canadian equivalent of a university Bachelors degree from an accredited institution. Management experience could include executive, functional and/or project management experience. Successful entrepreneurs are also encouraged to apply. The Kellogg-Schulich Executive MBA Program does not require the GMAT of candidates who satisfy the program's academic requirements. Please email or fax (416-736-5427) a copy of your transcripts to find out if you are exempt from the GMAT.

Yes. All candidates to the Kellogg-Schulich Executive MBA program are personally interviewed by the Program Director. This interview will typically last for one hour and will deal with your eligibility for the program so you can approach your references with confidence. It will also help you understand both the program's demands on you and your family, and its impact on and benefits to your employer.

Qualified applicants will be offered admission as soon as their files are complete according to the following submission deadlines:

• First Round of Admissions ends on June 15, 2012.
• Final Round of Admissions ends on December 7, 2012. (for all remaining seats).

This process will continue until the January 2013 class is filled. However, it is wise to apply early since space cannot be guaranteed.

The program fee for the 2013-2014 class is CDN $110,000. This includes tuition; on-site meals and accommodation during the two residential periods (Schulich Live-in Week and Kellogg Live-in Weeks); airfare to Chicago for the Kellogg Live-in Weeks; on-site meals during class weekends; books and course materials; as well as airfare, on-site meals and accommodation for the required Global elective courses and the Kellogg elective courses.
